CSUB geology students apply classroom learning to real world

CSUB geology majors Simarjit (Simmie) Chehal and Alexandra Rose used their skills from their Geographical Information Systems (GIS) class with CSUB Professor Dr. Jan Gillespie to create a new map for the Panorama Vista Preserve in northeast Bakersfield.

The map will be used for interpretive signs in the preserve, educational materials, brochures, and for the preserve’s website.  The two students volunteered many hours of their time over several months working on the map together with preserve board members.

This is just another fine example of how CSUB students are helping benefit our community.
