The south side of campus is undergoing a safety and sustainability upgrade this summer. Roadrunner Drive will now end at a turn-about in front of the Icardo Center. The road between the Icardo Center and Science II will become a pedestrian mall. Paid for by a designated fund from parking fees, the project should be complete by the time fall quarter starts in mid-September.
At the same time, a $9.5 million project paid for by SunEdison involves the installation of solar panels over 500 parking spots in lots E and I. Also slated to be done by the start of fall quarter, the solar project will provide 25 to 30 percent of CSUB’s energy usage – as well as provide shade cover for the parking lots.
