Nominate faculty for emeritus and other awards

Dr. Steven Suter, professor of psychology, receives the 2010/2011 Millie Ablin Excellence in Teaching Award from Dr. Horace Mitchell at the President's Associates Dinner on April 20, 2011.

Each year, CSUB honors faculty members for their service at our university. For the first time, invitations are being extended to students to participate in the nomination process. There are four types of awards being given this year:

Emeritus Awards
Emeritus status is an honor that may be awarded to a retiring or retired tenured faculty and administrative officers with academic rank, to recognize exceptional performance in one or more of the areas of teaching, scholarship, and service over an extended period of time. Of prime importance is demonstration of a strong commitment to the University and to its goals and general well being as an academic institution within the community. Millie Ablin Excellence in Teaching Award
The CSU Board of Trustees established the Excellence in Teaching Award in 1963. Each year, one distinguished faculty member at CSUB is honored for the contributions made to their students, to their academic disciplines, and to their campus communities. Millie Ablin, who served as a member of the Board of Directors of the CSUB Foundation, was a longstanding supporter and contributor to CSUB and the community. In order to recognize her support of excellence in teaching and scholarship, the teaching award was renamed the Millie Ablin Award. Faculty Scholarship & Creative Activity Award
This award was established in 1996/97 by the Academic Senate at CSUB and the CSUB Foundation in order to recognize and encourage outstanding contributions to the principle and practice of research and creative activity. Faculty research and creative activity are critical to providing an educational experience of high quality and to the overall mission of CSUB. Faculty Leadership and Service Award
