March is National Youth Art month, which focuses on celebrating art programs in schools. Last week, the CSUB Children’s Art Institute and Ronald Reagan Elementary School celebrated Youth Art Month with a community children’s art exhibit at the Clarion Hotel on Rosedale Highway.
CSUB students in the Winter 2012 Art 302 course, “Art in the Elementary Classroom,” worked with first graders at Reagan to teach them about renowned artists that painted the sea. The exhibit featured work from one of the lessons that are based on the artist J.M.W. Turner’s mariner works and showcased over 125 children’s first grade paintings of ships.
