CSUB alum, Congressman Kevin McCarthy (BS marketing ’89, MBA ’94) , will be spending the day at his alma mater on March 15, when he presents the Small Business Development and Innovation Conference as well as speaks at the High Speed Rail Town Hall. Both events are free and open to the public.
Typically Congressman McCarthy holds the biannual small business conference at other venues in town, but this time he has decided to bring the event to CSUB to introduce local small business owners to CSUB’s School of Business and Public Administration and the Small Business Development Center, which is also operated by CSUB. The conference will be held from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Student Union Multipurpose Room. Parking is free in Lots K and L. To RSVP, email RSVP.McCarthy@mail.house.gov or call 661-327-3611. See full schedule below.
Later that same day, Congressman McCarthy will join Chairman of the CHSR Authority Dan Richard to lead a town hall meeting discussing the hotly debated topic of the California High Speed Rail project. They will share their perspectives regarding the project’s business plan, financing, environmental impact and potential benefits and consequences. The meeting will take place from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the CSUB Icardo Center. Parking is free in Lots E and I. To RSVP, call 661-654-2175.
