The school year has begun and this year California State University, Bakersfield is filled with events to welcome students to campus. The week began with our open house from 10:00am-2:00pm in the Student Union where a variety of organizations gathered to welcome students and introduce them to different parts of campus life.
Roadrunner fans are invited to come out to Monday’s double-header soccer game beginning with Women’s soccer at 5:00pm and Men’s soccer at 7:00pm; students have free admission by presenting their student identification at the door and free CSUB vuvuzela will be handed out to the first 500 people. This year CSUB is starting a new tradition known as the Rowdy Run at 6:00pm in the main soccer field where freshman along with Rowdy the Roadrunner, your CSUB Cheer squad, CSUB administrators, faculty, staff, ASI and the Runner Girls (Dance team) will run around the soccer field to welcome our freshman to CSUB.
On Tuesday, September 11 will be Community Service Pledge day from 10:00am-12:00pm in front of the Student Union where students can come out to pledge community service work in honor of 9-11. The organizers of last year’s Dance Marathon will present the check to Children’s Miracle Network Hospital of the funds raised spring quarter.
Outdoor fun will be going on this Wednesday, September 12 on Runner Park from 11:00am-1:00pm where CSUB staff will be barbequing hot dogs and grilling veggie burgers for CSUB students. Did I mention it’s free?
CSUB affiliates will be providing beverages in different locations on campus this Thursday September 13 and you too can join the fun by logging in to your twitter account and searching for our Early Bird Tweet #CSUBearlybird.
Closing off the school week with our Men’s soccer game this Friday September 14 at 7:00pm against Sacramento State. After the game ends head out to the Student Union where from 9:00pm-12:00am CSUB will host their first Runner Night Carnival packed with free food in the Roost (located inside the Student Union), DJ, games, photo booth and much more.
