Don’t be frightened by the Student Recreational Center’s décor, as they are just as excited as you are for Halloween. This year expect the Scary Rec Carnival to blow your mind. On Halloween night from 7:00pm to 10:00pm the Student Recreation Center will be hosting the second annual Scary Rec Carnival. CSU Bakersfield students can join the fun for free. Students can bring maximum of two guests to the Scary Rec Carnival but guests must pay $5 to participate in the event, and must be 18 years or older.
Ashlea Wilson, Facilities Coordinator for the Student Recreation Center shared the event is, “put on by students for students.” She provided insight on the Flash Mobs which is composed of SRC members or participants who are going out to dance in different spots on campus to promote the Scary Rec Carnival for next week. On Tuesday evening at University Grill and Wednesday around noon in the Runner Café students should expect a surprise to take place.
Students should expect a carnival atmosphere with activities, haunted house, snacks, costume contests, dodge ball competition among other activities throughout the SRC. Ashlea Wilson expressed, “We really want students to embrace it. We want that carnival atmosphere of candy, cotton candy, candy apples and popcorn. Even if students don’t have a costume they can still come and have a good time.” The Haunted House is expected to be scary not frightening and is put on by Bryce Rankins a former CSUB student. Students should also expect to see DA the DJ, Daniel Alexander, to be turning the tables at the Scary Rec Carnival and Diamante Hernandez who is also contributing to all the excitement.
Gaming activities in the gym include video games and board games put on by Campus Gamers; the SRC staff will put on activities where the winner can take home a prize. Expect to see the SRC filled with events this Halloween like: a dodge ball contest, airbrush face painting, pumpkin decorating contest, best Halloween costume for males and females and various other activities. The Haunted House, with the theme, Three Ring Circles will be put on by “The Management” which will take place in the Solario Room; expect the Solario Room to be closed next week for the setting up of the haunted house.
Associated Student Inc. will contribute by putting on the photo booth and Office of Student Involvement and Leadership will provide popcorn.
Surprises, food, games, prizes and a great time is expected this Halloween at the Scary Rec Carnival.
